Edge units communicate using query language / endless stream queries. Measurement values are used to respond. At least some data is discarded once sent.

One edge device queries another edge device for calculated information. The response is used to perform another calculation, according to a global ontology. The response is a response to a stream query posed using query language.

Edge units process streamed queries by producing a partly compiled execution plan, and then to carry out the query using both executed and interpreted code of the execution plan.

A streamed query language is isomorph to a visual notation system. The GUI reads info from edge units, the user changes the query visually and the results are shot back to update the edge units.
